Independent Assessment of the Research - 'Outstanding, Internationally Leading'

Mobile VCE's research achieves high financial leverage through aggregating an Industrial members' annual subscription with those of other members and government funding, via EPSRC (the UK's Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council). In this way, for Core 2, your subscription of £36k secured an annual programme of ~£1.5m research.

As part of their accountability procedures, EPSRC commission independent assessment of the outcomes of all research supported. This was completed for Mobile VCE's Core 2 research programme in early 2004 and concluded that Research Quality was 'Internationally Leading' and awarded an Overall Rating of 'Outstanding'. This is an extremely positive report - an assessment of this level is not common and is a commendable reflection on the Universities and upon the effectiveness of the industrial steering provided by our member companies. It is very encouraging for all our members to know that an independent expert panel have concluded that Mobile VCE's research lives up to its name as a true Centre of Excellence
