Abstract In this paper, we analyze the diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) behaviour of a novel concurrent decode-and-forward (DF) relaying cooperative diversity transmission protocol. We first consider a two-source two-relay one-destination scenario and utilize concurrent transmission among the network by combining the two sources' two classic DF relaying steps. Through the DMT analysis, we show that the proposed protocol can effectively recover the multiplexing loss induced by the half-duplex operation in the relays, while still obtaining diversity gain. Then we extend our system model to a generalized M-source network.
